Alicia Keys has two sons with record producer and rapper Swizz Beatz. There’s Egypt and his little brother, Genesis, who is only eight years old. Swizz’s Instagram post praised the loving Alicia for her role as a mother.

Alicia Keys may be well known for her makeup-free beauty and her incredible vocals, but she’s also been a dedicated mother for the past 13 years. Now, her son, Egypt, has turned 13 years old, and she looks back at their life together with a sense of pride, a little nostalgia, and a touch of sadness at him growing up so fast, like every parent. Alicia took to Instagram to share sweet pictures of mother and son to honor her official teenager and even commented that it can’t be real that he’s already 13!

The star said that parenthood “makes you look at yourself in a way that is like a mirror like no other” because it “makes you look at what you have taken or learned from other people and how that becomes your truth, whether it’s yours or not.”
