Kate Middleton Was ‘Uninterested’ in ‘Forming Bond’ With Meghan Markle, New Book Claims
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle were both outsiders brought into the royal family. Still, that didn’t help them create an instant bond, according to the new book Endgame by Omid Scobie. Kate and Meghan never had much in common. The fact that the relationship between Prince Harry and Prince William was no longer friendly didn’t help.
A Lack of Interest
Meghan and Prince Harry’s engagement took place in November 2017, and their wedding happened the following May. At the time Kate Middleton and Prince William combined the care of their two young children with royal duty, and Kate also gave birth to her third child. It happened three weeks before the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan. Meghan found that being a working royal was an isolated and lonely experience. She had hoped to be able to turn to Kate for encouragement. However, Kate showed no interest in bonding with Meghan. Kate spent more time talking about Meghan than talking to her.
Kate Middleton used to be closer to Harry, and she will always remember those times with good feelings. Still, Kate could no longer trust either Meghan or Harry after all their interviews. Another thing that put some strain on William and Kate was Meghan and Harry’s step back from royal life and move to the U.S. in 2020. This left William and Kate with more royal duties and responsibilities.
An Awkward Dinner Party
In Harry & Meghan, the Netflix series about the couple’s love story, Meghan spoke about how she learned about the surprising realities of royal life during a dinner with Kate and William. The dinner was hosted by Meghan, and she wore ripped jeans and was barefoot. Kate, on the other hand, was done “to the nines,” according to Harry. Meghan didn’t realize etiquette rules were not observed in public only.
The dinner was also mentioned in Spare, Harry’s book. Harry also wrote that William and Kate Middleton didn’t say they were great fans of Suits, the legal drama where Meghan starred for seven seasons. Harry also wrote he didn’t think much of the marked differences in the way the two women dressed. Both Meghan and Kate noticed, though.
Meghan and Harry Put the Past Behind Them
Meghan doesn’t want anything to do with her royal past. For Harry, it’s different. He still has battles with the press to win. It will be challenging for him to find the right balance and work in a space that isn’t connected to his past.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are getting ready for the next chapter in their lives. They know how they are viewed as having failed. However, they don’t mind much as they have left much of the past behind and are looking forward to the future.
